ANGST IN FORM

May - October 2010

ART IN PUBLIC SPACE

Seven site-specific projects at various locations in and around Halle (Saale), in Saxony, neighboring federal states and the Czech Republic.

Public space plays a particular role in people's fears. They are unprotected and vulnerable, to road accidents, criminality, political demonstrations, terrorism, and state violence and surveillance. Under the subcategory, Fear in Form, the impact of fear is to be addressed, mobilized and staged as a means to deconstruct mechanisms for generating fear. Secondly, fear as a sympton is to be investigated vis-à-vis its causes in order to develop an understanding of its correlations in public space.

Artists include:
Critical Art Ensemble, Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock, Leopold Kessler, Folke Köbberling & Martin Kaltwasser, Steve Rowell, Henrik Schrat, Antje Schiffers & Thomas Sprenger
